Eradication of Malaria through Quantitative Plasmodium Species and CBC Testing

10 OCTOBER 2019

In partnership with SYSMEX

Early and accurate Malaria remains one of the most important public health concerns globally, with more than 3.2 billion people in 91 countries at risk of infection, according to the 2018 WHO report. Diagnosis of malaria is vital in the fight against the disease, so that specific treatment can be initiated to prevent complications and reduce mortality. The Sysmex XN-31 automated analyser – launched in September 2019, can detect and count malaria-infected red blood cells (MI-RBC) within one minute with excellent sensitivity and specificity (Pillay et al*) with reliable and objective malaria information using the technology of fluorescence flow cytometry. Results from 1 mL blood or less without sample pre-treatment to enhance and standardise your malaria testing. The XN-31 gives you fast results with 24/7 availability and Quality result independent of the skills of the operator.

In line with this, Sysmex is organising a symposium during the Medic West Africa Conference and Exhibition 2019, to highlight the benefits and features of the new analyser.
